A resident of Rajasthan, Geetanjali encountered 63% deep burns in a mishap. She had this accident in Udaipur and was given the primary treatment there. She came to Zydus Hospital after a couple of days and was admitted under Dr.Girish Amlani, Sr. Plastic Surgeon & Burn Specialist, and Dr Bikas Mishra, a critical care specialist and team. The case was critical as she had sepsis. She was being treated and was given heavy antibiotics and other medications. She had also developed cardiac problems, AF (Atrial fibrillation), and was treated by Dr. Ketan Vekariya, a Cardiologist. The case had its complexities but a multidisciplinary team with extreme understanding and expertise could deal with the crisis and brought the patient to normalcy after the rigorous efforts. The patient was thrilled after a partial recovery and expressed her gratitude towards the doctors by tying Rakhi (a symbol of protection) to Dr. Girish. Within just four days, we saw radical improvements in his diabetes as the numbers had stabilized, his fever subsided, and his other health issues were addressed by different specialists. He was discharged early as he was in good health and high spirits following a brief hospital stay. Despite undergoing numerous surgeries back in Turkey, the issue persisted, casting a shadow over his daily life in Ahmedabad, India, where he was stationed for work. A quiet afternoon turned into pure chaos and panic for the parents of an 18-month-old toddler when he had a terrifying accident while playing near a tractor in his village in Rajasthan. They decided to address the issue using a two-stage treatment plan. The initial plan involved extensively cleaning the wound, removing burnt tissue, and properly dressing the wound, allowing delicate tissue repair. After nearly 10 days of intensive medical care and meticulous dressing to ensure proper vascularity of the distal portion of his hand and fingers, they decided to go for the second stage of reconstruction, which involved repairing tendons, nerves, and other soft tissues. Moreover, as his thumb was fractured and exposed, an artificial dermal matrix, “Metriderm”, was used to make the bone viable. The surgery was successful, thanks to the continuous care provided by the entire medical team and nursing staff, and kudos to Dr. Jatin for his meticulous care throughout the recovery and follow-up phase.
